About
Bless This House
Bless this house, O Lord we pray
Make it safe by night and day,
Bless these walls, for firm and stout,
Keeping want and trouble out;
Bless the roof and chimneys tall,
Let they peace lie over all;
Bless this door, that in may prove
Ever open to joy and love.
Bless these windows shining bright.
Letting in God’s Heavenly light.
Bless the heath a –blazing there,
With smoke ascending like a prayer;
Bless the folk who dwell within, keep them pure and fee from sin;
Bless us all that we may be
Fit, O Lord, to dwell with thee,
Bless us all, that one day we
May dwell, O Lord, with thee.
Holy Art Thou
Holy art thou, Lord God almighty,
Glory and majesty in heav’n are thine
Earth lowly bending, swells the full harmony
Blessing and glory to the lamb forever more
For worthy, worthy art thou
Let all nations and kindred and peoples
Give thanks to the evermore
The Palms
Blessed is he who comes binging salvation;
Blessed O blessed his holy name
Green wave the palms along the path today
Blossoms of gold and purple greet the king

Lift up the song in loud accord;
Rise ev’ry voice to sell the great ovation
Blessed is he, o praise the Lord
Blessed is he who comes bring salvation
Peace be to thee, o fir Jerusalem

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, which art in heaven
Hallowed by thy name
They kingdom come
They will be done on earth
As it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts

And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom
And the power and the glory
Forever. Amen
The King Of Glory (Psalm 24)
The earth is the Lord’s. and fullness thereof
And they that dwell therein
For he hath founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the floods
Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord
Or who shall stand in his holy place
He that hath clean hands and a pure heart
Who hath not lifted up his soul vanity?
Nor sworn deceitfully
Hallelujah Chorus
Hallelujah! For the Lord God omnipotent reigned
The kingdom off this world is become the kingdom
Of our Lord and of his Christ
And he shall reign forever and ever
King of kings and lord of lords
Hallelujah

The Choir School
If you were to visit Toronto's Timothy Eaton Church any day in the "after school" hours, it is more than likely that you would hear the sound of children singing. Further investigation would reveal the source as being a segment of that churches sixty-voice choir school in rehearsal -a group of ten or twelve boys and girls sitting on high stools, with their music stands encircling a grand piano.
In addition to expected emphasis on vocal and choral training, such questions as "In what key is this anthem-you've never heard this piece of music but show me that you can read it anyway-what orchestral instrument would be suitable for this melody-do you notice a change in harmony in bar so and so? would reveal that a broad musical experience is being offered to these young people, many whom are promising instrumentalists as well as choristers. The environment is a pleasant combination of discipline and laughter.
Founder-director. Dr. David Ouchterlony, long time organist-choirmaster of Eaton Memorial, and retired principal of the Royal Conservatory of Music. says, " I've had many dreams come true in my life, but none more exciting and rewarding than this one."
Organist: David Ouchterlony. D.Lit.S.
James McLean graduated with honours in 1978 from the Royal Conservatory of music and was grated an ARCT Diploma. In 1980 he received his bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Toronto and also won the prestigious Eaton Foundation Scholarship. He has studied with Louis Quilico. Leopold Simoneau. Sir Peter Pears and William Neill. A soloist in opera and concert, he has preformed with many musical groups across Canada including the Toronto Symphony the Calgary Philharmonic, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He was a tenor soloist with Timothy Eaton Memorial church from 1976-1980.
This Album was recorded in April and May of 1981 in the sanctuary of the Timothy Eaton Memorial Church and The Flora McCrea Eaton Auditorium.

About:
A Spoonful of Sugar
In Ev’ry job that must be done
There is an element of fun;
U find the fun and snap!
The jobs a game.
And Ev’ry task you undertake
Becomes a piece of cake,
A Lark! A spree!
It’ s very clear to see (that a)
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down,
The medicine go dow-wown, medicine go down,
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In the most delightful way
A robin feathering his nest
Has very little time to rest
While gathering his bits of twin and twig.
Though quite intent in his pursuit he has a merry tune to toot;
He knows a song will move the job along, (for a)
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go dow-wown, medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way
The Honey bees that fetch the nectar from the flowers to the comb
Never tire of that ever buzzing to and fro
Because they take a little nip
From ev’ry flower that they sip
And hence, they find their task is no a grind, (for a)
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go dow-wown,
Medicine go down just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In the most delightful way
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Because I was to speak when I was just a lad,
Me father gave me nose a tweak, and told me I was bad
But then one day I learned a word that saved me achin’ nose,
The biggest word you ever herd and this is how it goes!
Super-Cali-Fragil-istic-exp-ali-docius!
Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious,
If you say it loud enough, you’ll always sound precocious.
Super-cali-fragil-istic-expi-ali-docius!
He traveled all around the world and everywhere he went
He’s used his word and all would say
“There goes a clever gent”
When Dukes and Maharajas pass the time of day with me
I say me special word and then they ask me out to tea.
Super-cali-fragil-istic-expi-ali-docius!
Even though the sound of it is something quiet atrocious,
If you say it loud enough you’ll always sound precocious.
Super-cali-fragil-istic-expi-ali-docius!
So when the cat has got your tongue,
There’s no need for dismay.
Just summon u this word and you’ve got a lot to say.
But better use it carefully or it can change your life.
One night I said it to me girl and now me girl’s me wife!
Super-cali-fragil-exp-ali-docius!
Even though the sound of it is something atrocious.
If you say it loud enough, you’ll always sound precocious.
Super-cali-fragil-istic-ali-docius!
Chim Chim Cheree
Chim Chimney, chim
Chimney, chim, chim chree!
A sweep is as lucky as lucky can be.
Chim chimney, chim chimney chim chim cheroo!
Good luck will rub off when I shake hands with you
Or blow me a kiss and that’s lucky too.
Now as the ladder of life has been strung,
You may think sweeps on the bottom most rung.
Though I spends me time in the ashes and smoke,
In this whole world there’s no happier bloke.
Up where the smoke is all billered and curls,
‘Tween pavement and stars is the chimney sweep world.
When there’s hardly no day nor hardly no night,
There’s half in shadow and halfway in light,
O the rooftops of London coo what a sight!
Chim Chimney, chim
Chimney, chim, chim cheree!
When you’re a sweep you’re in glad company.
Nowhere is there a happier crew.
Than them who sings chim chim cheree, chim cheroot!
Feed the Birds
Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul’s
The little of bird woman comes
In her own special way to the people she calls,
“Come buy me bags full of crumbs.”
Come feed the little birds show them you care
And you’ll be glad that you do.
Their young ones are hungry. Their nests are so bare;
All it takes is a tuppence from you.
Feed the birds, Tuppence a bag.
Tuppence, tuppence, Tuppence a bag. Feed the birds,”
That is what she cries,
While overhead her birds fill the skies Round the Cathedral
The saints and apostles look down as she sells her wares.
Although you can’t see it you know they are smiling each time someone shows that he cares.
Though her words are simple and few,
Listen, Listen, She’s calling to you,
“Feed the birds, Tuppence a bag
Tuppence, Tuppence, Tuppence a bag.

About
The spirit of Christmas with its good tiding and its fa-la-las prevails wherever Robert Shaw Chorale makes its appearance; since that has been from Maine to Mexico, in Alaska, Hawaii, Europe and the Middle East, it has brought joy to at least half the world. Their numerous concerts of Christmas Hymns and carols alone have enhanced many a Yuleseason, including that of the late Arturo Toscanini.
Following a Christmas Eve appearance with the NBC Symphony Orchestra in 1951, the Robert Shaw Chorale piled into cars and drove up to the home of Toscanini’s son, Walter who had arranged this lovely surprise for his father. Quietly, he ushered the singers into the huge two-story reception hall they let forth with a joyous “Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly,” A door opened and Toscanini appeared, looking very much like a child approaching his first Christmas tree. The concert lasted way into the night, interrupted by refreshments, handshakes and a little “ converzatione” with the happy host.
Toscanini had been one of the first and most enthusiastic supporters of Shaw’s choral enterprises: the Collegiate Chorale and the Robert Shaw Chorale. In 1945 he had sent the following invitation to the Collegiate Chorale: Would Shaw and his singers care to join him and the NBC Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony? Such a request was the musical equivalent to an invitation from the Whitehouse.
Shaw and his group jumped at the chance, but not without some apprehension. Toscanini’s uncompromising musical standards, his super human demands for perfection, his terrible tantrums when displeased, had been the downfall of man an artist. 125 singers did not want to die of embarrassment, and so they went to work, until every phrase, every note, every intonation of Beethoven’s great “Ode to Joy” was letter-perfect. On the day of the final chorus rehearsal Toscanini dropped in unexpectedly. Awestruck, some of the singers were beginning to miss the cues. But Shaw quickly brought his startled artists under control. When after the final chord, they turned their eye again to Toscanini, they looked into a beaming face. “Bravo” shouted the awe-inspiring master; I’ve found the conductor I have been looking for.”
A few years prior to that, Toscanini would have found his man helping Billy Rose train his Aquacade singers, or preparing choruses for such Broadway hits as Carmen Jones, Laughing Room Only and the Seven Lively Arts.
Shaw, a native California, started his musical career at Pomona College where he was enrolled as a theology student. His conducting of the college glee club was just a hobby, although a serious one. By some coincidence Pomona was selected by Warner Bros. as the setting for a film, Varsity Show, staring the pop bandleader, Fred Waring. After watching young Shaw with his glee club, Waring was so impressed that he invited the would-be minister to come east to conduct the Waring Glee Club, then appearing weekly on the radio. That was the beginning.
In 1941, Shaw founded his collegiate chorale, a group of 185 armature singers which aimed at and achieved professional standards and soon became one of the foremost organizations of its kind. In the short years of whirlwind activity Shaw won an unequal reputation as a conductor of all types of choral music, plus the distinction of having greatly fostered the art of choral singing all over the country.
Shortly after organizing his collegiate chorale show ventured into orchestral conducting and, in 1943, was named outstanding American born conductor-of-the years by the national association of American Composers and Conductors. Since then he has appeared as guest conductor with the NBC, ABC and CBS Symphonies, the New York Philharmonic, The Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Presently he holds the post of assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra.
In 1948, Shaw formed a new chorus-The Robert Shaw Choral-made up entirely of professional singer’s right from the start the chorus was appraised on in terms of superlatives. :… the tonal quality was ravishingly beautiful at all dynamic levels, the balance nearly incredible, the attack miraculous, the enunciation and stylistic approach to the language superb… In short, we have here an organization of advanced vocal soloists the direction of a superb choral conductor to produce music of the utmost authenticity.”
The maintain this high level of artistry, Shaw works his singers relentlessly. In rehearsal, his mood might range from the pedantry of a musicology professor to the uninhibited gusto of a college cheerleader “I’m going to work you hard tonight,” he usually promises and then he does just that. Frequently he begins rehearsal with a short period of limbering-up exercise-calisthenics, back-bends, yawing-designed to relax tight throats and to tone u breathing apparatuses. That done, he will launch into a straight 2-hour rehearsal, often without a break. Luckily the singers share Shaw’s sense of dedication and subscribe to his credo that “…Music is not a luxury but a necessity… Because it is the persistent focus of man’s intelligence, aspiration and good will. ‘It is thus not only a chorus with a voice, but a chorus with a heart-and there by hangs it’s key to success.

About: Using the fingers on both hands, it is possible to count the number of groups still performing who rose to fame with the flourishing of rock ‘n roll in the 50’s the Drifter’s, the Coasters the Flamingo’s and a very few others are still around today.
The Platters though are more than just a team of survivors; they are a still growing, living and notable, action in the contemporary music scene. They have altered a bit, advanced their style, & were this year reborn as hit makers with the bestselling “I Love you 1000 Times”.
In the golden glow of their formative years, the Platters were the “My Prayer Kids”, the people who made “The Great Pretender” and a package of other winners.
This album includes several of the songs long associated with the group. “Heart of Stone” and “I’ll get by” are among the featured here; but more than that the L has ad overall brilliance that makes standards come to life with a hit style here, the Platters are a mellow mood performing much of the material used as a “breather” in their hectic stage show or as a slow number to heighten their explosion into a driving follow-up song. Even in these softer sets through, the fever pitch of emotional involvement is constant.
This is an exemplary album for the Platter fans, and a delight to newly won followers of the group. It presents the team working with a unity that challenges the individual strengths of the group members. Tony Williams appears on the surface to carry the major workload with his astounding vocals; but consider the affectedness of his performances with a lesser supporting team. The Platters backdrop is a flawless mirror of beauty enhancing the delight of William’s Show. The teaming works beautifully with an interplay that has the lead singer trying even harder than usual, and drawing the team into heightened power with its own magnetism.
Though the Platters are hardly working on a “social” bag here, the group has very strong material and a power that transcends the rhythm and blue gruffness and savagery that frequently passes for real soul and deliver it in a flowing form that charms Old admires, teases the emotion of new listeners and wins the attention of unknowing fans. The Platters have the highest kind of soul, the variety that is just as striking to the R & B teen core as to the most discerning easy listening adult.

About: They are all relatively new and were chosen for this album because they clearly reflect the “new work” which is happening in Christian circles the world over, a passing away of traditional emphasis on denominational lines and a coming together in Jesus’ name for Christian fellowship. They are not meant to be evangelistic but rather invitational by the warmth of their presentation I call them: ministry songs” because abundantly communicate the three great principal of Christian experience. The FAITH we live by the HOPE we look for and the LOVE we walk in. It is my sincere prayer that the listener receives this album as my invitation to people everywhere to “enter into His courts with Praise and Thanksgiving.” And to join with me singleness of heart and MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE to the Lord.
The album has been a labour of LOVE for me.

About
Visiting the sprawling Double R Bar Ranch in southern California for the first time, one finds it difficult to keep in mind that the pleasant and friendly folks who call this lovely place home are probably the most famous couple in the whole world. But in many ways Roy Rogers and Dale Evens are really quite unlike most people who owe their success to show business.
Roy has been America’s undisputed “King of the Cowboys” for the past to decades and many of his 86 feature –length movies are still playing to delight audiences in virtually every part of the globe. And in tradition, the medously popular television series starring Roy and Dales’ is currently entertaining millions of loyal fans in more than one dozen foreign countries as well.
And yet, despite the fact that they are known and loved by kids and grown-ups everywhere. Roy Rogers and his lovely wife are too the most unspoiled, down to earth people you could ever hope to meet. Just ask their neighbours in Chatsworth, a charming community in California’s San Fernando Valley, where people have come to know then not only as celebrities, but as devoted parents and active workers in both Church and civic affairs. (Roy has served as honorary major for the past 5 years).
It is typical if Roy and Dale to have chosen this fine collection of sacred songs for their first album on Capitol, for religion has always played an important part in their lives. Their home, their family, and their personalities reflect the steadfast belief they share in the power of prayer, and no in-person appearance by Roy and Dale ever fails to include at least one son of faith and devotion.
They’ve selected a dozen of their favorites here, some old, some new. The musical backgrounds were untrusted to the brilliant talents of Ralph Carmichael, who employed strings, guitar, rhythm, piano and a chorus to provide tasteful, modern strings for each one of these beloved melodies. Dale sings alone on “Just a closer walk with thee” and “I’d rather have Jesus” and Roy performs “Pease in the valley” and “Amazing grace” as solos. The rest of the arrangements future the familiar sound of their voices in close harmony, as in the albums lively opener… A joyous hand-clapping version of the title song Dale’s very own “The Bible tells me so”.

About
The most exciting song in years leads off a great hit album by the most exciting single in years.
She came, she sang, she conquered.
Petula Clark (she pronounces her name “Pe-choo-la”; you can call her pet) has swept through the United States with her single “Downtown”. This, her debut hit album reveals that Pet is no one-song singer. She is, as the rest of the world has known for several years, among the top five international singing stars, ranting with the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, and that league. Her arrival in the United States has taken strangely longer than some of these artists. But when she hit with “Downtown”, the impact was enough to more than make up for the delay.
Under the guidance of the brilliant young English producer Tony Hatch, Petula has created an album that brings one of Europe’s foremost performers to the United States. Hach, who also has written many of Pet’s songs in the album (“Baby it’s me”, Crying Through a sleepless Night”, “Music”, “Let me tell you”, “Downtown” and collaborated with Pet on others (“Tell me”, “Be Good to me”, and “This is Goodbye”) is in large part responsible for the Pet Clark that has conquered America. Pat, in a distinguished career on the continent, has not had an American success until “Downtown”. Now, through the guidance of Hitch, Pet is on the verge of becoming one of America’s top stars, too. Although she has sold over 20 million records in Europe, the blond vocalist waited until 1965 to become a hit in America. In many ways Petula leads the international hit list. A multi-linguist. She had in past years the number one hit record (With different songs) in Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, England, France and Italy, a success story unequaled in recording history.
Petula was born Petula Sally Olwen Clark in Epson, England at the age of 7, she took her nickname, Pet two years later, with the beginning of the second world war, Pet starred on the BBC singing and reciting poems for the families of British Soldiers. Her first appearance on the BBC gave birth to her career, and she soon became a regular on the network, making over 500 appearances by the time she was 12.
When she turned 12, Pet signed a film contract, and has since starred in over 25 films with such stars as Kay Kendall (“London Town”) Peter Ustinov (“Vice-Versa”) and Alec Guiness (“The Card”). But Pet has always placed her cinema career second and concentrated on her recording career. Petula recorded her first single at the age of 17, and it began the long list of hits that now requires her to cut a schedule of 20 singles per year.
While still in her teens, Pet began her wide travels as an artist, first into Holland, than farther into the continent, staring on radio, TV, and making numerous personal appearances despite the language barrier, she became famous throughout Europe. Following her first English hit record, “Gondolier,” Pet’s French record company, Vogue requested that she perform the same song in French for Gallic release. Pet set new marks in the record business as the first vocalist to have a bi-lingual hit.
With her success racing ahead of her knowledge of language Pet was beset with problems, at her first major public appearance in France at the Alhambra Theater, Pet had to read her halting French off notes she had written in the Palm of her hand, she immediately began studying French in earnest. Her studies paid off as Pet became a favorite of the French. In 1960, Pet stared at “The Palace “Of France. The Olympia Theater in Paris. By then, her program of songs could be composed entirely of her hit singles. Her triumph was complete. In 1962 Pet and her husband welcomed the birth of her first child, a daughter with the bi-lingual name, Barbra-Michele (Pet has since given to a second daughter Catherine) Pet’s husband is French and Petula maintains residence now in Paris, having become completely bi-national.
With the arrival of Le Twist in French, Pet became the darling of the French once more with her single “Ya Ya Rock-and-Roll set in France but also by receiving the Grande Prix National de Disque François.
With the arrival of “Downtown” In America, Pet has even more reason for celebrations. Now the pretty young blond who has become a great star in Europe, Africa and Asia has conquered one more continent. Her new subjects couldn’t be happier.

About
“Relaxed, gentle, humorous…”
A good singer a pop singer are not necessarily now and the same. Record industry charts are filled with overnight sensations-ephemeral performers who touch, monetarily a sensitive part of the psyche.
But a pop singer who stays at the top, soring far above the currents of changing fashion; requires more than a “new sound”. Individuality, musical skill and most important an ability to select and interpret good material, are of major importance. Few people who watched television, listen to the radio, or buy records would deny that Andy Williams is the epitome of such a performers.
Relaxed, gentle, humorous-The adjective to describe his music come easily. Andy’s delightful version of the new Harry Mancini hit “Dear Heart” highlights one view of the velvety Williams sound. There are others: from “Who Can I Turn To” and “It Had To Be You”. To “I’m all Smiles” and “You’re Nobody Till somebody Loves You” – The enormous range of Andy’s interpretations is Fully Displayed.
The Proof, of course is in the pudding. The fact that nearly everyone else. Andy Williams’’ singing is no reason for you to like it. No reason, that is, until you listen and discover that everyone else is right.

About:
When he’s not leading the songs, emceeing the show and playing long-neck banjo on Singalong Jubilee, Bill Langstoth may be found in a studio control room here at CBHT, for Bill’s full-time job is that of producer-director. Bill developed his penchant for leading groups in community folk singing in during his college days. For the record Bill was instrumental in launching Singalong Jubilee and he’s kept it moving with his own energetic brand of energetic brand of emceeing and his love of “singing a rouse”.
During his checkered career, Fred McKenna has sung songs of all kinds and played “anything with strings on it” t tent revival meetings, carnival side shows, country fairs, lumber cams and weddings.
It would be difficult if not impossible to assess Fred’s contribution to the show in a few words, but about the sincerest complement we can pay him is to say that without him Singalong Jubilee would not be possible.
It’s indicative of his versatility as an artist that on this recording Fred may be herd featured on a rousing gospel tune-“I saw the Light” and on a sensitive folk ballad-“Springhill”.
There are many things to be learned from the CBC Announcer’s Handbook, but how to sing and sing well in a rich powerful baritone is not one of them. Although he shies away from the billing-“The singing announcer”-There’s no doubt that as far as “Singing Jubilee” is concerned, Jim Bennet discharges his duties equally well in both categories. By his treatment of the traditional fold air, “Old Blue” it is evident that he brings many years of vocal training to his performances but somewhere between “Singing Stars” and “Singalong Jubilee” Jim acquired a taste for that which is perhaps more country than folk. Listen to “Sable Island Shore” written by a resident of Nova Scotia’s south shore “Smilin’ Ivan”. Dorey and undertones of another Haligonian and singer named Hank are very much in evidence.
On the distaff side of Singalong Jubilee, there’s another trained singer who can switch from a folk song to an aria with great ease, our prima donna Catherine McKinnon. We consider that Catherine possesses a rare talent: a soprano voice that is at one the same time capable of a warmth that do justice to a love song of the French Royal Court- “Plisir D’Amour”.
On the other hand her arrangement of “The Nova Scotia Song” from the Helen Creighton collection is very much in the North American folk tradition and Catherine had made it very much her song.
The Done Burke Four consist of two boys, two girls and two guitars who combine to form a rarity-folksong group that possess a distinct musical identity when most folk trios and quartets sound like copied of one another.
“The Ballad of Springhill” is a written folk song, and it’s appropriate that Kay Porter, a native of Springhill Nova Scotia should be so successful in interpreting this number that has found itself a permanent spot in the Singalong Jubilee Repertoire. Kay is teamed with Fred McKenna on this cut.
When he’s not working with his group, Don Burke is resident five-string banjoist on Singalong Jubilee.
A Housewife, several lawyers, an insurance salesman, students, 2 mortgages officers , an engineer and physical education instructor can and do form a professional singing group every week on CBC Radio and television. We’re proud of the way they’ve performed on many of the selections on this LP.
Karen Oxley has stepped forward many times in the past to perform solo, and on this recording she features in”Poor Little Girls of Ontario.” Lorne White, a veteran Jubilee singers, is responsible for the arrangement of “Live a Humble’
Finally we would be remiss in our duty should we fail to mention two very important members of the Singalong gang: bassist Earl Fralick, audio engineer, Don Jackson and the music sound consultant Graham Day, all of whom bring much talent to this recording and to the television show.
Many Pittson, Producer, Singalong Jubilee.
The Jubilee singers-Gordon McMurty, Patricia Mckinnin, Kay Porter, But Kimball, Marilyn Davies, Hal Kempster, Marg Ashcroft, Karen Oxley, Catharine Mckinnon, Toni Roach, Herb Doane, hazel Walker, and Lorne White.
Jin Bennet, Cathrine McKinnon Bill Langsworth, Fred MKennona.

He shouldn’t be funny, because he doesn’t tell jokes, but he is funny.
Bill Cosby has fingers like tentiyrcals, talks faster than a scared mule, and has a heart bigger than Dumbo, the flying pink elephant. Mules and tentacles are fine. But that heart, man is the gas. That’s one of the qualities that make Bill Cosby. Makes him so warmly accepted. You identify with Bill’s material. It’s not about rocket ships, and mother-in-law worse than Lucretia Attila. For instance Bill can do 8 minutes on his first car-The same one you had, with no low gear remember?
And when he talks about things we all have gone through, and then forgot, he just… talks no big set-ups. No knock-em-dead fingers and when he takes u a situation, like Kindergarten, he doesn’t exaggerate. If anything, Bill under exaggerates. No topical jibes. No White House gags. Just plain ole mankind on review. In previous albums, Bill has recalled lots that we’ve all forgotten about life. Things like hustles-up street football games (“Arnie go down 10 steps, and cut left behind the black Chevy”). Now a line like that wasn’t exactly what most comedians would call boff. How big a laugh would hope, Benny, or Shal get with that? About this big; hee-ho. Cosby knocks you on your sill with material like that. How Come?
He’s a guy with total recall. He remembers incidents none of us mortals do. He’s told more about his past life than Proust.
Is wood shop funny? What’s so hilarious about football? Or first grade? For the answers, listen to the album, fans. It’s about the only way you’ll hear Bill for a while, anyway, because right now (1965-1966) he’s temporarily out of circulation.
Bill’s in this tiny humid dressing room out in Hollywood, co-staring on the “I Spy’ television series and will be for a goodly spell.
There will be more to come, of course Bill, hasn’t’ yet told us the truth about his nights tending bar, Good Humor free sticks, or chemistry class, or his honeymoon. That’s the niceness of the week: Bill hasn’t even scratched the surface.

About:
If a “sound” is unique it can often expect reasonable success. However, it takes a great deal more than just uniqueness to sustain this success. The Fleetwoods have done this – and more they have become the nation’s top teen-age vocal trio. They have done this for some perfectly good reasons.
First, their sound is more than just different and identifiably their own. It is a perfect blend of young voices, just right for so many of the fine ballads that are being Witten today. Secondly, it is a versatile sound, ideal for not only these new songs but for familiar standards as well. Finally there is the Fleetwood’s – namely sincerity. They simply give to each lyric they sing its truest and sincerest meaning. Their overwhelming success can be proven also in another way, and that is that many others have tried to imitate them. However, none has done it successfully and the Fleetwood’s remain America’s favorite young singing trio.

David Wilkerson-The Coming Persecution
Label-David Wilkerson Publications WLP 1002
Release Country-USA
Genre-Christian
Condition-Good/Good (cover/media)
About:
Perhaps one of the most unusual messages ever released.
David Wilkerson shares his vision of the coming persecution
Mr. Wilkerson says: I have had two visions in my lifetime. The first came to me in 1958 when a vision of God took me from a little town in Pennsylvania to New York City to work with teen gangs and drug addicts. That was not a false vision. Now, years later, it is a reality with youth centres spread all around the world. Gangs and addicts have not only been converted; many are preaching the gospel as ministers and missionaries.
A second vision came to me this summer (1973). It is a vision of five tragic calamities coming upon the earth. I saw no blinding lights, herd no audible voices, nor did I hear from and angel. While in prayer late one night, these visions of world calamities came over me with such impact I could do nothing but kneel, transfixed, and take it all in.
I did not want to believe what I saw or herd, at first. The message of the vision was to frightening, to apocalyptic, 2 discomforting to my materialistic mind. But the vision came back to me, night after night. I couldn’t shake it off. Deep in my heart I am convinced this vision from God that it is true, and that it will come to pass. Yet, this vision has caused me to do some very real heart searching. I have been afraid most people won’t believe it, or that I’ll be branded as some kind of fanatic. I shared this vision with some of my closest friends and associates and have been warned against publishing it. Who wants to listen to a message on economic confusions in a time of great affluence? Who want to be told judgement is coming when so many can’t even cope with life as is? Who will ever believe the religious freedom we now enjoy will soon be threatened and that Jesus revolution will turn into a Jesus revulsion movement. In spite of my fears and apprehensions, I can no longer shake off a conviction that this vision must be published. If I understand divine guidance call, God has instructed me to speak out. I have tested the vision by the word of God, and scripture correlate its message. Parts of this vision will come to pass in the very near future. Some of the events are more distant. But I believe all the events mentioned will happen in this generation!
Hear about the amazing predictions and prophecies
-Hate Christ Clubs
-Persecution of charismatic Catholics
-Nude dancing and séances in churches
-X-rated movie on TV
-Homosexual Churches
-A super world church
-Satin Ministers
-A spiritual awakening in Russia and China
-A major earthquake in the United States
-Coming recession
-Homosexual mass murders
A frightening almost unbelievable vision that ends in hope for all true Christians.

About: “Homer James is one of the outstanding Gospel singers of our day. He has sung around the world in crusades with my associate Leighton Ford. I thank God for his ability to communicate with young & Old alike” –Billy Graham
To Homer James, Soloist with the Leighton Ford Crusades, music is the key “that opens hearts” for the spoken word. A favorite soloist with evangelistic crusades as well as a popular radio, television and recording artist, Homer James has been associated with the Leighton Ford Crusades since 1955.
Mr. James was preparing for a profession music career in his native city of Ottawa, Canada, when he decided to use his voice in full-time religious service.
Early in 1960, Homer James was selected to appear as a contestant from the Ottawa area I the Canadian Broadcasting Cooperation’s special program “Talent Caravan”. This was rated as one of the top half-dozen shows on the Trans Canada television network. Mr. James insisted on using sacred songs for is appearance, although no performer had used anything but classical, popular or secular music. After winning the Ottawa regional contest, Homer James went onto emerge as winner of grand finals, thus topping, with a Christian testimony in music, more than 5,000 other artists over the yearlong contest.
Using his dramatic tenor voice & quiet winning personality. Homer James helps bring spiritual reality to the lives to thousands.

But his award winning performances are not limited to Oscar songs. They include his deeply-felt interpretations of Dear heart, charade and Alfie, all of which were nominated for academy awards. Also they dramatic readings of “a Day in the Life of a Fool” and “Lady”, one of his most recent hits.

About:
Our son- The singer! This is still not quite a reality to the two of us. Gary, our oldest of 6 boys, has taken the pop music business by storm. We haven’t completely adjusted to coming home to find a house full of handsome young men, musical instrument in hand, rehearsing for their next personal appearance tour.
Gary has always known that he wanted to be in some phase of show business. The problem was, what phase! When he took to playing the drums a few years ago, we were happy to see that he found a starting point. Then, before we could turn around, Gary had formed his own group, The Playboys, and secured his first engagement without our even knowing it! And to, top that, their success was phenomenal. When he continued to pursue this field, we were ecstatic! We then introduced Gary to an A & R friends of ours, Snuff Garrett, and Gary recorded “This Diamond Ring”, which went on to sell a million records. This was followed by “Count me in”, “Save your Heart for me”, and “Everybody Loves a Clown”, all of which had similarly fantastic results. There was no doubt that Gary had found his niche in the business.

About:
A New Day
Some people
Measure life
By long years and busy weekends
(Days rush by and are lost-like minutes: sixty forgotten ticks of an hour)
Joe Wise
Sings quietly about living –not life on a long and cold December kind of day
Trying to feel the pulse
Trying to sort the pieces
Glad and half afraid
Trying to dance trying to make all things new
: With our hearts ad hands all busy in our private little wars”
Praying for time-time to live and time to die
Dreaming of a new man with a new heart and a new song
And a new day, when life begins again
Each new today.

About:
The Chancellors of Central United Church, Weston, Ontario and the choirs of St. George’s United Church, Toronto, in favorites from the hymn book of the United and Anglican churches.
In Vaulted Anglican Cathedrals and in white frame United Churches- from Vancouver to St. John’s bright red Hymn Books to sing a new song to the Lord.
In JOYBRAK, we present some of the early favorites from the new hymn book, as revealed in a cross-Canada survey by the United Church Observer. They are sung in two very different styles by one of Toronto’s most renowned United Church choirs and by a young vocal and instrumental group from a lively suburban church.
St. George’s United Church, is one if North Toronto’s largest Congregations. It’s choirs have long been noted for their excellence and for their wide-ranging repertoires. They sing regularly in Sunday Worship services and have enjoyed notable success in their concert work in Canada and broad. Under the leadership of Peter McCoppin, the youthful organist and choir master who also leads the St. George’s choir brings a touch of the traditional to this record complimenting the modern beat of the Chancellors.
St. Gorge’s choir is herd on “Joyful, Joyful we Adore thee, Jesus is the man, Sons of God, Walk Softly in Springtime, Sing we of the Modern City and Sing ye Praises to the Father.
Played in their concerts or the “hootenanny’s”, usually held after evening services. They perform as 12 soloist, 4 duet teams, plus a trio. Peter Hayden is musical director, assisted by Al Deremo. The 12-piece orchestra consists of electric guitars, acoustic guitars, banjo and drums and under the leadership of Doug Gowland, gives a tremendously vibrant background to the group.
The Chancellors are herd in ‘Mine eyes Have Seen the Glory, Lord of the Dance, Break Bread together, Were you There?, Every Star Shall Sing a Carol and He Has the Whole World in his Hands.

About
Sure, you say, the Baja Marimba Band, the nutty ones, boy, are they corny! Areal joke and that’s the beauty of it. Because, like all good corny, jokes, they’re funny and you remember them. With their droopy mustachios ad sombreros and south-of-the-border charm-like the guys in the background of all those old Cisco Kid movies who never do much of anything but take siesta’s they amble deadpan onto the stage and, next thing you know, because it’s just so naturally smile-making you’re thinking hey, they’re crazy and you love them! And soon, because whatever it is they’re doing is catching, your feet are syncopating’ and your ears are wigglin’ things your feet and ears never did before on their own. Best of all, it turns out they’re named fine musicians who really play and so what if they’re as Mexican as bagels and lox? Or lasagna? They are beautiful.
And so what if they never really had a bunch of gigantic Greatest hits? When you hear them and you feel good and you wanna dance and you suddenly say to yourself, hey, they really have a pretty terrific sound, then what you’ve got is a joke and the poetic justice that separated the good jokes from the ones you can never remember the punch lines.
So you think Baja Marimba’s chief bandido Julius Wechler for getting them together in the first place and for Jose Jimenez himself, Bill Dana, for running off those Cisco Kid flicks and showing them where it’s at and you give a listen right around now to these greatest hits, because they are sure as hell someone’s greatest hits, and you’re gonna admit that the good old ones like “Ghost Riders in the Sky” and “Maria Elaena” never sounded that way before and, come to think of it neither did the good old new ones, like “Along Comes Mary” and “The look of Love”. Or Weschler’s own creations, “Brasills” and “Fowl Play”!
And what does it all add up to? Happy times, that’s what sure, the Baja Marimba Band.

About:
The trumpet is stilled a world is saddened by the loss of Louis Armstrong. Like jazz itself, he was born in New Orleans.
At the age of 13 in the Waifs home there, he was given a cornet. A kind of gift that soared his joy into the world. His music and life forever became known the world over. King or commoner, Asian or African, the fans loved “Satchmo”. Musicians admired and expected his way with a lyric, or a note. Many thought his trumpet the best, with a rich, full sound and a tone, fire and beauty that has never surpassed in jazz. “I guess,” he told a LIFE reporter, “I’ve done Hello Dolly about a million times and all my little gestures, coming out all chesty, making faces, the jive with the audience clapping away, it’s all in fun. People expect it of me; they know it’s there in the cause of happiness. What you’re there for is to please people. I mean the best way you can. Those few moments belong to them”

About:
A special greatness in these performances.
The emotional power, the poignancy, the incredible richness of Mario Lanza’s voice that made him unique among the singers of his day, were never more strikingly apparent than in his renditions of songs of reverence.
It was more that voice-it was almost a sense of personal urgency that seemed to deepen this great artist’s interpretations of songs of faith. In this album are the great Christmas hymns, and cars. They are, it is true, songs of joy, songs that herald a new destiny for man; but at the same time there is underlying a yearning, a search for man’s relationship with God. It was this that Mario Lanza seemed almost unconsciously trying to express.
It is this personal impress of a fabulous vocal talent that makes these renditions unique and still among the greatest performances of traditional Christmas songs.
